What is the Asian Smart Living International School?

Origin
The Smart Living Summer School Initiative was launched through the work of the Talent Cultivation Program for Smart Living Industry, sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Taiwan (R.O.C.). The International Forum on Smart Living Summer School Initiatives in Asia, held in Taipei, Taiwan on January 14th, 2011 aimed to promote innovation in smart living by bringing together a number of leading international researchers and scholars who were working on the themes of smart living education, smart living technology, living lab methodology, interdisciplinary research and projects, and international collaboration in the realm of smart living. A forum enabled local scholars to share different methodologies and course schemes of smart living, and to analyze the capability and potential for Taiwan to establish and host the Asian Smart Living Summer School. A steering committee was subsequently established to release the strategic framework to foster the initiative of the first Asian Smart Living Summer School in Taiwan.

The first Asian Smart Living Summer School was held in 2011 from November 30th through December 4th in Taipei. This Summer School targeted masters-level postgraduates who intended to enhance their cross-cultural experiences and smart living innovation. This Summer School served as a leading showcase and a major platform for Smart Living education. Throughout the duration of the program, the existing experiences and innovations produced outside the country were collected and diffused throughout Taiwan, as well as adapted for local use.
